Launch Complex 29 Highlights

  • 12 August 1958 – Contract awarded
  • 1958 – Construction began
  • 15 August 1959 – Construction completed
  • Blockhouse built to support two launch pads, 29A and 29B, only Pad 29A was built. The pad had an Access Stand.
  • July 1959 – U.S. Navy accepted the complex
  • 21 September 1959 to 29 April 1960 – Total of 14 Polaris A1X Test Vehicles launched from Pad 29A
  • 10 January 1961 to 12 November 1965 – Total of 15 Polaris A-2 launched from Pad 29A
  • 7 August 1962 to 1 November 1967 – Total of 18 Polaris A-3 launched from Pad 29A
  • 17 November 1966 to 2 March 1967 – Total of 3 Polaris A-3 Antelope series launched
  • 1968 – Placed on standby status
  • 11 September 1977 to 19 May 1980 – British Chevaline (Polaris A-3) launched
  • 1980 – Launch complex deactivated
