Cape Recreation Area
Directly behind the old Cape Headquarters building in the Industrial Area is a recreation area that includes a covered picnic pavilion, an athletic field, exercise area and restrooms. The covered pavilion is called the Bourne Picnic Pavilion.
The pavilion is named in honor of Colonel Robert B. Bourne, Commander of the 6555th Aerospace Test Group at the Cape from 15 January 1988 until his retirement from the U.S. Air Force on 2 October 1990.
