Launch Complex 30 Highlights

  • Two pads built for the Army Pershing I missile program
  • December 1958 – Construction started
  • 22 January 1960 – Construction completed
  • 10 February 1960 – U.S. Army accepted the launch complex
  • A two-story blockhouse with an 8′ thick roof, two launch pads with service towers, missile installation and checkout building and helicopter apron
  • 5 January 1961 to 24 April 1963 – Total of 10 Pershing I test mission launched from Pad 30
  • 25 February 1960 to 21 March 1963 – Total of 45 Pershing I launched from Pad 30A
  • 14 February 1968 – Mobile gantry dismantled and sold for salvage
  • March 1968 – Pad made available to the Navy for use in assembling MK48 torpedoes for sea test
