Launch Complex 15 Highlights

  • 30 January 1957 – Construction contract awarded
  • 1957 – Construction started
  • 1 July 1958 – Construction completed
  • 5 February 1959 – Air Force accepted the launch complex
  • Blockhouse is similar to those of the Atlas complexes except that it has a second interior floor
  • 6 February 1959 – First Titan I launch
  • 29 September 1960 – Last Titan I launch
  • Total Titan I launched – 10
  • Complex 15 initially stored liquid oxygen and RP-1 as propellants for the Titan I and had to be converted to accommodate the Titan II, using Nitrogen Tetroxide for the oxidizer and Hydrazine blend known as Aerozine 50 for fuel.
  • 7 June 1962 – First Titan II launch
  • 6 February 1963 – First military “blue suit” Titan II launch
  • 9 April 1964 – Last Titan II launched
  • Total Titan II launched – 16
  • March 1967 – Complex deactivated
  • 13 June 1967 – Sold for salvage
  • June 1967 – Pad dismantled
  • November 2012 to February 2013 – Blockhouse demolished
